Nicotine is addictive and although many smokers may want to quit, the addiction won’t make it easy.  No matter how many quit smoking tips you may try, without the will to stop you may relapse into smoking again.  You have to want to achieve your goal.

Convince yourself that you have to quit smoking and that you are totally committed to it.  Without a mindset to beat the cigarette habit you may not be able to succeed.  Do it for yourself.  Nicotine addiction is every bit as bad as heroin, cocaine, and alcohol.  It causes a dependency and is so strong that one cigarette can cause the dependency to begin again.

When you are trying to quit smoking be prepared to expect yourself to experience difficulty.  You will be angry and deny that you are habitual smoker and need to stop.  You may also try anything to get a cigarette probably bargaining with yourself to smoke one and no more because you’ll be over the craving.  Becoming depressed isn’t unusual either.  You will begin to accept the facts as they are and take necessary steps to continue going.  Then finally, you will become satisfied that this may work.

If you need tips to help you quit smoking try to follow some of these.  You can use medications such as Wellbutrin and Zyban if you feel that you need an aid.  Speak with your physician and he will discuss the possible use of medications.  Wellbutrin and Zyban both contain bupropion.  Wellbutrin may be covered by your health insurance policy.  Zyban and Wellbutrin both require a doctor’s prescription: however, Zyban probably isn’t covered through insurance.

According to reports nicotine replacement products are not as effective as previously thought.  During research, seven over-the-counter nicotine patch and gum studies were combined and only 7% of participants were still not smoking at six months.  So you may want to avoid those.
